Tianjingshan Gr
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Tianjingshan in Zitong Country, Sichuan. It was named as Tianjingshan Limestone by Zhu Sen in 1942, and renamed as Tianjinshan Formation by Zhao Jinke in 1962. It was named as Tianjingshan Limestone, equivalent to the 240 m grayish-white limestone above Jialingjiang Limestone and below the Xujiahe Coal Measures, which belongs to the Early Triassic. Tianjingshan Limestone was renamed as the Tianjingshan Fm by Zhao Jinke et al. (1962) and was regarded as Carnian of Late Triassic. Tianjingshan Fm was regarded as the upper part of the Leikoupo Fm by Chen Chuzhen et al. (1963) and dated as the Middle Triassic. This formation was divided into two parts named as Upper Tianjingshan Fm and Lower Tianjingshan Fm respectively (Wang Naiwen, 1966) or Ma'andang Fm and Tianjingshan Fm (Deng Kangling, 1975) or Tianjingshan Fm and Huanglianqiao Fm (Chen Chuzhen et al., 1977). Zhao Jinke et al. (1982) used the Tianjingshan Gr for the first time, which is equivalent to Tianjingshan Fm, and it was divided into the upper Hanwang Fm and the lower Huanglianqiao Fm. The upper and lower part of the Tianjingshan Gr should be called Ma'antang Fm and Huanglianqiao Fm respectively, which belong to Carnian of Late Triassic and Ladinian of Middle Triassic respectively.
